A Fun Look At The History Of Tennis

Tennis as we know it today was developed in the UK in the late nineteenth century. Long ago, the sport was identified as lawn tennis in order to distinguish it from other similar field and lawn games as well as to what was called real tennis. “Real” tennis and “lawn” tennis were basically recognized by where they were played. Real tennis, in ancient times, was played on an indoor court and called the sport of royals. Lawn tennis is considered the modern-day version, played outside on grass such as at Wimbledon. Once lawn tennis was created, its level of popularity spread throughout the upper-class English speaking population first, and then the remaining world. Tennis is undoubtedly an all-access sport, in that it can be played by anyone who is able to hold a racquet. Tennis happens to be an Olympic sport as well as a Special Olympics sport.

Tennis is enjoyed by numerous players on the amateur, hobbyist and professional levels. Tennis is definitely a common worldwide spectator sport, particularly for the four Grand Slam tournaments. The Grand Slam tournaments are the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. Tennis is played on the flat, rectangular surface composed in most cases of grass or clay. A tennis match is decided through the best of three or five sets. Generally, the 1st player to win two sets wins the match although in men’s tennis at all four Grand Slam tournaments, the Davis Cup and the finals of the Olympics, the first player to win three sets wins the match. Tennis scoring can be confusing for many individuals, even some who’ve played as a hobby for quite some time. A set consists of games and to win games you must score points.

Use Carp Fishing Rods In Your Carp Fishing Gear

Most fishermen think that any rod and reel will bring in the carp of their dreams. What they do not realize is that carp, though once considered the trash of the lake, are sneaky creatures. If you are planning on fishing you might as well spend a few dollars extra and get the appropriate equipment for carp fishing. While some think it does not make a difference, carp fishing equipment can be the difference between a batch of carp fingers or hunger pains. Carp fishing rods used for carp fishing can vary with the different sizes of carp. In smaller lakes you may be looking at carp up to 15 pounds or so. In larger lakes carp may be as large as 30 pounds. Not every rod will allow you to wrestle a 30-pound carp, so choosing the rod carp fishing gear should be based on the size of the carp. A 1 to 2 pound test curve rod will handle carp up to about 15 pounds. Anything over the 15-pound mark should probably use a rod with a test curve of about 3.
