When you start your lessons as a martial arts trainee, you would get to know about so many different kinds of supplies that all professionals and novices use to practice their skills. The main types of martial arts supplies would include weapons, breaking boards, dojo mats, targets, uniforms, and so many types of protective equipments.
Weapons:
Weapons are used as a broad category and considered as the prime martial arts supply. One of the most traditional forms of weapons includes the Japanese bow, or Yumi, a term that includes both the longbow and the short one. In general, the Yumi is made of laminated bamboo and usually come in asymmetrical shape. Moreover, the string of the Yumi is made of hemp, however in modern bows, you will find synthetically attached strings. Looking at the shape of the Yumi, you will easily figure out that the weapon is used by horsebacks and fighters in ancient times.
The next most important supply is dojo mats. These mats are standard supply and give a cushioned surface for the users to practice their skills and protect them from any kind of injury as a result of quick fall. Besides standards mats, you can take grappling and take down mats that are mainly designed for absorbing more impact than the traditional forms of mats.
Breaking boards are another important supply that is used while giving breaking demonstrations. In most cases, wooden breaking boards are used. However, breaking boards in other materials are also seen in use these days.
